Department Overview
The Electric Engineering team ensures the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Engineering is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration, and emergency response.
Position Summary
This position is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) subject to collective bargaining.
The Associate level engineer job works under the general technical direction of more experienced engineers or management. This position is responsible for providing strategy, engineering, operations, maintenance, and other technical, and implementation support for the transmission, substation, and distribution systems, including transmission and distribution line SCADA/Automation systems. The responsibility level of this position increases with experience.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity.
The annual salary range is:
Minimum, $95,172
Maximum, $142,956
Job Responsibilities
- Monitors scope, schedule, and budget using controls (e.g., Primavera, SAP).
- Provide Technical Input to the qualified Supplier List
- Review Factory Acceptance testing calculations and analyses
- Provide equipment ratings at the asset class level (e.g. generic breaker or transformer ratings) and assist with legacy equipment ratings as needed
- Develop, document, and implement metrics that track system performance including safety and reliability
- Performs asset and system reliability reviews, trend analysis work, including recommendations for improvement and reporting
- Under supervision, performs asset and system reviews and develop/implement plans, including trend analysis and recommendations for improvement and reporting
- Perform infrastructure analysis and master the tools to do so (e.g. SAP Asset Registry,
- Provide support on regulatory, governmental, and other third-party issues including audits, reporting, documentation, work paper preparation, data responses, and compliance requirements.
- Prepare project approval documents
- Participate in strategy and capital investment planning activities
- Participate in Development of project scope, alternatives analyses, schedule, and budget for assigned projects; and provide support and guidance to project implementation teams
- Participate, as necessary, in project implementation meetings to establish project implementation scope, schedule, and costs of projects
- Participate in approval of vendors and products for material, assets, labor and equipment
- Provide support for training and change management
- Support event investigations, extent of conditions, failure analyses, and reliability studies
- Participate in development and implementation of asset and reliability strategies including criteria, plans, programs, and standards development
- Provide financial information and support for sponsored programs
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited curriculum in the US or the equivalent from outside the US
- 1 year of experience in engineering, planning and/or operations
Desired:
- EIT-Engineer in Training certification
- Project Management experience in a utility company
