Department Overview

The Wildfire, Emergency and Operations (WEO) organization is responsible for oversight of PG&E’s wildfire operations and associated mitigations. The organization is responsible for the development and maintenance of consistent processes and work standards associated with sustainable wildfire and emergency response preparedness operations in line with our regulatory policies and practices. WEO partners with leaders in Operations and other parts of the business to develop and recommend a strategic direction for emergency preparedness, emergency response and public partnerships.

Position Summary

The Wildfire Strategy & Engagement team within WEO organization is building out wildfire resilience partnership programs as a complementary portfolio of solutions to existing utility wildfire mitigations to cost-effectively reduce wildfire risk in the form of public-private partnerships. Programs being piloted today include partnerships to build local fire response and mitigation capacity, treat ground fuels and restore forests outside of rights of way, improve community evacuation and defend utility assets on one-way-in / one-way-out roads, convert waste biomass into valuable products like biochar, co-invest in dip tanks to improve locational fire suppressant availability, and trial new wildfire response technologies.

The Wildfire Strategy & Engagement team is seeking an intern this summer who can help build out infrastructure for better program and mitigation targeting and community engagement on wildfire resilience public-private partnerships.
